Red lips were voted ‘The most iconic beauty trend of all time” by Superdrugs poll and it is no surprise! It is THE makeup item that women use to look more confident, empowered and sexy.
Celebrities over the decades have been following this classic trend. Marilyn Monroe made it her signature look during the 1950s and 1960s. I think we can all agree she was the perfect “femme fatale”?
Since her era, the trend has never gone out of style. We can be sure to see it at almost every red carpet event.
Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, Penelope Cruz and Gwyneth Paltrow all know it is the best way to make a statement and be memorable.
Who can wear red lipstick?
Everyone! Whether you have pale skin, a dark complexion or olive undertones, red lipstick will suit you.
You just need to find out if you look better in blue-red or orange –red shades (sorry, there is no general rule).
How to Apply:
First, prep your pout! Chapped lips look even worse with bold colors on.
Use a toothbrush to gently exfoliate and then, apply a lip balm.
Outline your lips with a lip liner to prevent the lipstick from bleeding.
Sloppy red lipstick is anything but sophisticated. Therefore, I highly recommend to always apply the red lipstick with a lip brush.
Remember that red lipstick is a big statement; minimum eye makeup is a must. Think eyeliner and mascara. Take the time to even out your complexion as red shades can pick up and amplify the redness in your skin.
