Embrace The Summer, Not The Shine!

By Anne Zimmermann

It’s summer and the temperatures are rising! Enjoying the heat feels amazing until you take a look in the mirror, yak! Shiny face, melted eyeshadows and running mascara…

It is time to fix the mess and here is how to do it without breaking the bank :

Prime!
Using an “oil free” primer will keep the shine at bay and make your pores appear smaller.

Think powder!
Nothing feels heavier than wearing foundation on a humid day. Switch it up for a compact powder that will give you coverage and keep the skin looking mat.

Touch Up!
To keep your face in place all day you may require a little touch up. Using a sponge, simply press the mattifying powder in the area looking shiny – usually the T-Zone.

Switch to waterproof!
Whether it is your shadows, eyeliner or mascara, look for waterproof formulations. It will prevent the makeup from running down your face at mid-day…

Blot!
This is one of my favourite items during the summer. Blotting paper will absorb the oil on your face without taking your makeup off.

Bonus tips
A good makeup starts with an appropriate skincare regime. During humid weather, opt for lightweight moisturizer and hydrating serum.
