Family Travel: Choose Your Own Adventure

My friend Amy Allen Clark over at gave her kids an amazing Christmas gift this year – a “choose your own adventure” style family vacation experience that Amy and her husband Ryan put together. I know you’re probably going to want to get out the torches & pitchforks at the mention of Christmas when it’s early June but I thought it worth a mention as a gift idea not only for your family for Christmas but for other gift giving occasions as well.

Father’s Day is only a couple of weeks away and you could riff on this “Choose Your Own Adventure” idea by giving Dad 3 “adventures” to choose from. Depending on your budget you could give choices for 1 day adventures such as a hike in the park, a drive-in movie or a round of mini-putt or weekend long adventures such as a trip to a cottage near Wasaga Beach, a camping trip to Algonquin Park or a weekend of sports action at the Pan Am Games.

Graduation time is upon us and whether the graduate in your life is a middle school, high school or college/university graduate you can create some lasting family memories with a “choose your own” adventure date with your new graduate.

Wedding season is in full swing. Instead of a typical bachelor or bachelorette weekend in Vegas friends could band together to help the bride or groom “choose their own” pre-wedding adventure with their friends and bridal party. This could also work as a wedding gift idea from friends or family.

With a little time and planning the “choose your own” travel adventure concept would also work for anniversary, birthday, and retirement gift ideas.

Thank you Amy for the great idea!
