Weekend Getaways Without the Drive

Vacation time is getting near, and the weather is finally starting to get better. Summer is fast approaching, which means time for a getaway! Unfortunately, sometimes taking a week-long summer vacation just isn’t in the cards. Between budgets, time constraints and work schedules, it’s hard to find time to escape. Fortunately, we live in a great place where there are amazing local spots to head to for a nice weekend away without hours of driving. Here are some of our hot spots for a weekend getaway, not too far from the city.

Blue Mountain: About 2 hours north of the city, on the shores of Collingwood, an amazing resort and escape is waiting. From hiking trails to zip lining courses, to spas and fine dining, there are hundreds of options for the whole family.

Sherkston Shores: Headed about an hour and a half southwest of the city, the sandy shores of Sherkston lay. An adorable RV park with tons to do for everyone, it’s a great escape with pools, beaches and even a quarry to jump into! Plus an arcade and some fun indoor options for rainy days.

Sauble Beach: If you are looking for a true beach getaway, take a few days and head up to Sauble Beach. There are some quaint shops, miles of beaches, and tons of fun things to do.

Camping: For those who enjoy the great outdoors and don’t mind a little extra work, why not take a look at some of the awesome Ontario Parks campgrounds. It’s a lovely way to get in touch with nature and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Wine Country: Food, wine, and quaint bed and breakfasts await you in Niagara Region. With hundreds of wineries, amazing restaurant options and perfect places to stay, heading to NOTL for a weekend is a perfect getaway. Be prepared to indulge, or even take part in a bicycle wine tour.
