By Sarah Khalid

As a movie fanatic myself, and when a holiday comes along, I tend to look for movies that correspond with the themes that the holiday being celebrated represents. In honor of Mother’s day I have created a list for those looking to watch a movie that shows the essence of the mother/daughter relationship. So pick a film, jump on the couch and enjoy!

1 Mamma Mia

  1. Mamma Mia (2008)

A bride-to-be tries to find her biological father in time for her wedding to the dismay of her mother in this musical film.

2 Freeky Friday

  1. Freaky Friday (2003)

A remake of the classic film, a mother and her daughter with a terrible relationship switch lives, and see what it is like to live in each others shoes.

3 Step Mom

  1. Stepmom (1998)

A dying mother has to accept her ex-husband’s new wife. Additionally, so do her children.

5 Kids Are All Right-001

  1. The Kids Are All Right (2010)

Two children who were conceived by artificial insemination, living with their 2 mothers, slowly integrate their father into their life.

4 New Years Eve-001

  1. New Year’s Eve (2011)

This movie follows multiple story lines and character relationships all leading up to New Years Eve. The mother/daughter relationship of Sarah Jessica Parker and Abigail Breslin is sure to give this movie that good-and-fuzzy feeling.

I hope you enjoyed these recommendations, if you have any of your own feel free to comment them below!

Have a good Mother’s Day!
